How I get out on time (Tick tock) with kids

I’m well-known for rushing out the house.  I'm a pro on fighting against obstacle that might come up when trying to get out the house on time with the kids.
I have three boys and now a baby girl!  I’ve been a working mother for over 11 years. My oldest son will be 12 in August, so I was the queen of rushing out the house, to get to work on time. But then BANG!!!  I was hit with a newborn baby. That’s where the tricky situation began all over again.

So here are some of my helpful tips on getting out on time;
(Before)
-Have your kids bathe at night time.

-Make sure they have their uniforms/ clothes ready from socks to sweater ready to go the night before.

- (Mom) Get your outfit together (including; shoes, accessories and jewelry).

-Also make sure they have their backpacks with all their supplies (books, homework, pencils, lunch money and ECT).

- (Mom) have your purse ready too, wallet, KEYS, inside the purse. You have no idea how many times I was late because I forgot where my keys were at.

- Now for the baby; make sure you have diapers, wipes, formula, extra clothes, an extra hat, socks, pack in the baby bag the night before. Don’t forget her baby toys we need her distracted in the car ride and we want her to have some familiar toys at daycare.

-Since my daughter is on formula.  I make sure formula is in the bag, and all bottle are clean with amount of water measure to just pour in formula.

- Then plan out your morning and make time for everything. If you have to take out the trash, or want to do your hair, feed the baby or even watch the last 10 minutes of the show you didn’t finish and had to DVR it.  Just give yourself the appropriate amount of time for each thing.

-and THEN give yourself a couple extra minutes in the day because with kids, something always happens.

(During)
-Remember set your alarm! If it’s hard for you to wake up with your alarm, set it earlier, snooze then get up on your second alarm which should be set to the time you really need to get up.

- For (Breakfast) I make smoothies the night before and put them in a mason jar. Make something fulfilling for you and the kids or make two jars one for you and another for the kids.  Then in the morning just pour breakfast ;). (Ideas- milk, yogurt, and fruit *remember quick and easy). There is also Leggos, morning hot pockets or pop tarts to pop in the microwave or toaster.

I also have an automatic coffee brewer. I have it set for 5 in morning so when I get up I have fresh coffee ready for me. It makes my morning so much better. (You’ll understand if you’re a coffee drinker).

It may seem a lot at first. But then it’ll become a routine and it would feel much
easier. Once I started organizing myself and actually doing it my morning felt nicer. I even had time to have relaxing conversation with the boys. I then added 5-10 extra minutes to my morning schedule to play with the baby for a while.

Prioritize your life...

Sometimes I get myself into situations I just can’t handle… some people might call that a challenge… I call it a mistake.  Why?  Because I know I shouldn’t do it but I keep doing it. I don't know if I'll be able to handle it. I know I should stop it… but I don’t. I know everything escalates and then what? So if you know you can’t handle it… don’t do it…
Do what?

Anything and everything… it could be a relationship, another hobby, adding another class, applying for another job… adding another responsibility to your list that you’re not going to be able to put your all into it.

I know some people say it’s going to be hard but you can do it… hey if it’s possible do it. But if you already have a lot on your plate you know you can’t its okay not to.  Just finish what you your doing now and then come back and try doing what you wanted to do next. Because then you can do it right.

“I”… was focused… focused on being a mom, working, school, and working out. So why am I trying to add more things to my schedule… its takes time away from everything else. Takes away from my time that I have to finish what I already have to do and finish it with a great accomplishment.

So focus I will stay.

I feel that if I try doing something else at this very point of my life it would be impossible.

It might be
fear
or
 that I'm to smart.

I’m always having the propensity on crashing into obstacles but I have to learn to avoid the one that I can’t handle and going through the one I need to.

Priority!
Priority!
Priority!

Wake Up!

“When your alarm goes off, what you decide to do defines who you are”

I love to sleep. I feel like I can never get enough of it but, really I never can’t, cause I usually only get to sleep about five to six hours per night. So sometimes it’s hard to wake up on time. I sometimes even had nightmares that I’m going to oversleep and miss a whole day of work. I never had a nightmare of oversleeping and missing a day with a friend or school, only work. I guess I’m work obsessed. So I researched some ideas of waking up… and only posted the one that I can see myself actually doing. Check it out..

(Remember sleeping helps your health and beauty, that right there is an awesome incentive.)

But how can I wake up? Here’s some help…

1. Sleep More- Try to go to bed earlier. If you can’t then squeeze a nap in your day so you’re not over exhausted in the mornings.

2. Put your alarm away from the bed- You will have to get up to turn it off and once you’re up… stay up.

3. Set multiple alarm clocks- If one doesn’t wake you up, then the second or third one will. Try to do it no more than 5 minutes apart. Set the last one with the time you actually need to be awake.

4. No more another 10 mins.- Those additional 10 minutes can become 20 or 30 and now you’re running around like crazy and most likely will be late.

5. Jump out of bed. It’s hard but just do it, once you do, you’re up.

6. Get motivated. Even a simple one like decide that I’m going to eat my favorite food for breakfast (pancakes, egg, cereal, etc)

7. Brighten up your bedroom. The body naturally wakes up faster when it’s light outside, so keep your curtains open to use the sun to help you awake.

8. Have a drink. Drinking some water as soon as you wake up stimulates the body and will help you stay awake.

9. SPLASH! - After turning off the alarm, go immediately to the bathroom and splash some cold water in your face until you are awake.

10. Routine- Once you start waking up at a certain time every day, your body get accustomed to waking up early. So if you wake up at your usual time on the weekend, stay up. You’ll get to enjoy that time doing something productive or watch your favorite show.

Lose an hour in the morning, and you will be all day hunting for it.

The next 15 minutes could make you smarter!

So I was about to throw away my April 2011 Glamour magazine. Well I don’t know about throwing it away, I kind of like going back to them for some old tips… like this one. The next 15 minutes could make you smarter. We all want to be smarter… right? These super fast tricks will help you get your game on, experts say.

Got one minute?

Test Your Memory

Look at whatever’s directly in from of you for 30 seconds. Now close your eyes and visualize what you saw. Without looking up, write down 10 items you just spied. This forces your brain to use both its language and visual areas, says Shelley Carson, Ph.D., author of your creative Brain. It’s a perfect tune-up before an important presentation.

Got two minutes?

Crank Up Some Music

Upbeat songs increase levels of the feel-good brain chemical dopamine. And “being in a good mood inhibits parts of the brain that are critical,” explains Carson, “so you’re better able to come up with creative solutions.”

Got Seven Minutes?

See Green

Can’t leave your cube?

YouTube “nature montage,” then takes seven minutes to look at images of land, sea and sky. Nature’s restful effect can enhance memory and attention almost 20 percent, a small University of Michigan study found.

Got 10 minutes?

Play More

Ten minutes of non-violent video games like Tetris quickness you’re through processes, letting you make decisions and see connections faster. Bonus: Video games distract you from anxieties, which can hamper quick thinking.

Got 15 minutes?

Have Some Coffee!

Or tea, for that matter: Caffeine revs up the central nervous system and boosts the hormone nor epinephrine, which acts like “brain adrenaline,” says Carson. You’ll see an improvement in attention and problem solving. Just don’t have more than two cups: Jitters ruin everything!

Try it… Hope it works for ya.
