The Story of my life by Helen Keller

So I started reading “The story of my Life” by Helen Keller. This book has opened my mind and has made me wonder and think outside my own box of thoughts. Before I even started reading the book, my first question in mind was… how did she communicate? I asked several people but nothing. So I’m one of those people that couldn’t wait to read the book to find out... So I Google. Google said that she had a teacher Ms. Sullivan that did first help sense things by touching them and then creating the sing for her. She would grab her hand and sign for her and eventually she learned it. WOW! Having one disability, I believe is hard but having two is a major hassle. Especially if it’s sight and hearing the sense you living without. Stories like this make me wonder… Like do blind people have dreams? What if they have been blind since birth and have no image of anything?
Yes, I Google and found out that….

Yes, blind people do have dreams. However, those blind since birth or very early childhood have no visual imagery in their dreams. Instead, they experience a very high percentage of taste, smell, and touch sensations in their dreams. (Also Auditory dreams)

The breakdown is as follows:

There are no visual images in the dreams of those born without any ability to experience visual imagery in waking life.

Individuals who become blind before the age of five seldom experience visual imagery in their dreams.

Those who become sightless between the ages of five and seven may or may not retain some visual imagery.

Most people who lost their vision after age seven continue to experience at least some visual imagery, although its frequency and clarity often fade with time.

Spring Nails

So as I informed you guys that my nails were very damage because of the acrylics I been using for years. So for this whole month, I had my natural nails and have been trying to cure them… I have been using the Sally’s Nail Nutrition Green Tea + Bamboo Nail Strengthener. I seen some improvement and it has been working "Okay". Also, since it is spring I been using Springy color nail polishes. These have so far been my favorites…

Kook- A-Mango (left) is a bright orangey with a tint of red. If you don’t like bright color you’re really not going to like this one. But the color really is perfect for spring.

Commander in chic (Middle) is a grayish-brownish with a tint of purple polish. I don’t know if it’s just me but it all depends on the lighting different tints reflect on them. I sometimes see it like grayish w/ a tint of purple. Other times they look Brownish with a tint of grey.

Fairy Teal (Right) is a nice cream teal color. The only bad thing about this one is that you have to be real careful when removing the color because it stains your fingers. BAD! Even after nail polish remover and then washing my hand and the color was still on tips of my fingers.

I’ll be looking for more colors and sharing my thoughts on them. For now all I can say is that these colors are amazing and I do get a lot of compliments on them. If you are interested they're about 8 bucks. I got mines at CVS but I'm sure you can find them at any drugstore or anywhere they sell Sally Hansen nail polishes.

BY THE WAY REMEMBER NEVER TO DRINK AND DO UR NAILS...LOL
(Don't worry I fixed it after)

Diary page left open…

04/06/2010
Yesterday, was like any other day woke up a little late…. Ahhh! I was running around getting the kids stuff together for school. They were off this whole week and now they’re going back to school…it hit me like a big bang on the face. “LIKE WOW SCHOOL ALREADY”! As I was wakening them up I couldn’t stop but feeling so bad, I felt like they’re vacation was not long enough. Maybe cause I didn’t take them anywhere special because of work and school. I usually do, it’s usually the beach and a movie… but this week… NOTHING! So bad. But the weather didn’t help either. The rain… yes, it was all the rain fault and that Political science test didn’t help either. I know I’ll make it up to them. At least Easter was fun, with the DVD, their new Justin Bieber CD, and the toys. OMG, why oh why did I get them that CD, it’s going to be constant playing. After getting to the office a little late and seeing some of my co-workers grouchy faces I was like great but after coffee and a minute in the office it all flip. It was actually a good day. Then after work I went to CVS. Oh yeah, and I actually text the EX. That was not smart but it was an impulse I had, but this time was not all that intimate talk about why we broke up that he always always brings up. It was a “Hey, how are you” text and that was it. So that was great. At CVS I got that face scrubber thing that I been seeing in commercial that I wanted to try. I also bought toothpaste for me and the kids kind for the boys. It was able to relax when I got home, I had dinner and washed. It was real chill and then of course I tried out my new face scrub. So far I like it but I’m not sure yet it has only been one use. I added gloss to my nails and went through my hair style book trying to figure out a new hair style, I’m so bored and tired with my old one. I also tried to figure out what brown to use on my hair. I want a chocolate brown without any red tones. Is that even possible??? After reviewing the book for about thirty minutes I realized that I should have read my school book. I have a report due sometime soon and I have not even reviewed the chapter. Again…So bad I know. My brother asked to use my truck as I was going to bed. I said “No”. Why? Cause I usually say “Yes” but I realized by giving him everything I’m not helping him at all. If I keep saying “YES” to all his requests he is never going to get the encouragement to do stuff for himself. As I was going to sleep, I felt horrible. My conscious was like “I should just given him the truck”. But deep down inside I knew I was doing the right thing. How I wish my conscious was so reassuring of that. I eventually knocked out.

Be Differet, be unique, be yourself...it's okay!

Don't dare to be different, dare to be yourself if that doesn't
make you different then something is wrong.”

We all have those days that we feel more different that we already are. But as I’m getting older I realized that I don’t mind it at all. Yeah, I’m different more ways than others, from some of my friends, co-worker and even family members.
Like yeah…,

I like watching YouTube ghost videos (even if they might be fake),

Yeah, I like listening to Rock even when I’m wearing my pink heels or my pink lipstick,

Yeah, I listen to rap in the office,

Yeah, I do smell all the food I eat, before I eat it,

Yeah, I sniff myself all the time
(I love my bath body and Victoria secret lotions),

Yeah, I sleep talk,

Yeah, I hate melted cheese but love pizza,

Yeah I’m shy but love talking a lot,

Yeah, I like thug guys and nerd (older) boys,

Yeah, I’m a neat freak (Everything has to be perfect),

And Yeah, I like my cup o’ noodles with sour cream. (TRY IT, it’s good).

Some of you guys might like one but not the other. Its okay if we all like the same things, there would not be enough sour cream and cup o’ noodles for all of us. I remember when I hated talking Spanish because most of my friend only spoke English. Now, I’m proud that I can and I do it more often. My friends even ask me to teach them some words. So be unique, be yourself, its okay. Like they say don’t judge the book by its cover because you might think that my pink lipstick tell you everything about me… but you’re wrong. =]

HAIR CARE AND CHUCK SHOES

So I have been getting a lot of compliments on my hair from many of my friends. They mention how my hair is starting to look much healthier and thicker. Well, every time I hear that I get sooo happy. Last year I went to my friend's hair dresser to get highlights and she totally ruined my hair. My hair where the highlights were supposed to be at basically had split. I was depressed for over a month because of it. I didn’t go out nor did anything socially. I just stayed home and basically cursed the lady in my mind every time I looked at my hair. But life goes on and I moved on. So I ran into this super intresting article in GLAMOUR which makes so much sense and wanted to share.

The Fastest way to Healthy Hair

First Shampoo

Detangle.
Brush your hair before you wash.
Bonus: You’ll avoid hair balls in the drain.

Use less than you think.
That’s a quarter size blob of shampoo (double for long hair).

Work it in.
Use the pads of your fingers (not your nails) to knead the scalp, Skip the ends, which can get dried out.

Then Condition

Yes, it’s a must-do for all hair types.

Avoid the Scalp.
Start with the ends (they’re thirstiest). Stop three quarter of the way up. Anything higher cause greasy roots.

Let it soak in.
Comb conditioner through to coat every strand, and leave on for five minutes before rinsing. (Be green and turn the water off!)

Rinse well.
Don’t just let the shower hit your head-use your fingers to separate hair. Finish with cool water to seal the cuticle and lock in shine.

GOOD ADVICE HUH?

****************************************************************

Besides being so happy w/ my hair this weekend I went shopping and got some new Chucks. I love them because they are simple and comfy. I can really wear it w/ anything and I feel casual and simply cute.

I’m getting the grey one’s next… so cute…lol

Other than that I just stayed home and study and hanged out with my kids. Bryan was kind of mad because I went to print some pictures at CVS and forgot to print one w/ him in it. So here Bryan… one of my favorite picture of you. I ♥ you!

I have been getting into Mayer Hawthorne music lately. I know I’m late but it’s cool. He has a different flow going. Check it out…

Natural Nails Care

So I took off my acrylic nails because it’s been months since I gave them a break. I use to give them a day or two break time before getting them re-done. But now my nails are so weak and thin. There horribly damage. Last night I cut them short and file the sides and coated them with MAC Studded nail polish and clear gloss. I need to make an emergency run to the beauty supply and find something to help them out. I think I need a break from acrylic nails for at least a month. I’ll see if I can hang, I’m so use to having them. It’s hard to type without them, my shower took longer and getting my hair done was not easy.

Any suggestion on what I can use to help them out???
I found this article which I will definitely try doing.

Hope it help other girls out there.

Sorry I been out, sill anticipating the NEWS at work. It has been postponed a little more.

Wish me Luck =]

I’m hoping for the best.

*6 tips for cute nails*

1. How to remove nail polish fast.

Press a cosmetic cotton pad saturated with nail polish remover onto the nail, wait for 10 seconds, then draw the pad to the nail tip with a 1-way stroke. Rubbing back and forth will leave stains on skin & cuticles.

2. How to create nicely shaped nails.

After filing your nails straight with a regular file, use a low grit buffing block to smooth out uneven edges to give your nails a finished look. Buffing the edges seals the open layers of filed nails to prevent breakage or chips. Use the buffing block just like the way you use your file.

3. How to remove dry, ragged cuticles quickly.

Once a week, apply a cuticle remover at the cuticle line and wait for 5 minutes. Use a cuticle wood stick and scrape back & forth at the cuticle line to remove dead cuticles- dry skin bits that cling to the base of the nail. Rinse nails with a soap gel. Use a nipper and nip - don’t pull – cuticle bits that stick up and hangnails. If your live cuticles are too thick and you want to have them trimmed, have a manicurist trim them once in a while. Frequent trimming will make them harder and thicker. Avoid trimming your own live cuticles. Use cuticle oil daily. Fast absorbing Cuticle Cure softens hard cuticles and ragged, dry cuticles and makes nails stronger and flexible, which helps reduce nail breakage. Keep Cuticle Cure in your purse or at your desk to keep cuticles looking moist after washing your hands each time.

4. Washed and dry nails.

Apply nail products, whether nail color or nail treatments, to nails that are washed and dry, free of any oil or lotion. Nail products will peel or chip when applied to dirty nails. Dead cuticles have to be removed first. If a nail product is applied over dead cuticles, it’s going to lift.

5. How to build hard, strong nails.

Always use nail care and nail treatment products that are free of toxic chemicals. Besides harming your health, formaldehyde, toluene & dibutyl phthalate cause nails to dry, yellow, and become brittle. Even if you don’t wear nail color, wearing just a nail treatment alone will prevent your nails from breakage and protect them from the drying effects of water and harsh cleaning products. Always apply a nail treatment base coat before applying nail color. When applying a nail treatment, cover the sides and the corners of the nail. These areas are where the breaks start. For fast nail growth use Grow Tougher for thin nails & slow growth nails and Nail Recovery for repair of ripped nails & peeling nails, after the removal of artificial nails. As a nail hardener and nail thickener, Instant Wrap for splitting nails is uniquely formulated to provide an instant manicure for its sheer white tint will give your nails a clean, polished look.

6. How to have a long-lasting manicure.

After cleaning and drying your nails, apply your base coat. Applying a nail treatment base coat first helps grip nail color to the nail. Always allow one coat of nail treatment to dry to the touch before applying another coat. Besides nourishing your nails, a treatment base coat will help prevent nail color stains on your nails. Apply Fast Dry Top Coat every 3 days for protection from nail color chipping and nail color peeling and to provide a high gloss shine. When applying a nail treatment or color, wipe the brush inside the bottle to remove excess. Then, put a little stroke near the cuticle line to remove a little more product before placing the brush as close as possible to the cuticle line. This method will give you thin coatings for long wear.

Some final do’s and don’ts.

  • To avoid bubbles never shake bottles of nail treatments or colors.

  • To blend nail color, turn the bottle upside down for 3 minutes.

  • After applying a fast drying top coat, just let your manicure dry naturally. Don’t: stick hands right in front of a fan; blow air from mouth on to freshly painted nails; wave hands back and forth; or place freshly painted nails under cold water.

  • Store nail products in a cool dark place like in a bathroom cabinet. Avoid putting them in a warm place or in a refrigerator. Extreme temperatures thicken and separate product formulas.

  • Don’t mix nail polish thinner with nail products. It will make nail color look dull and separate nail treatmentformulas. If a nail product is 6 months old after it’s opened, it’s time for a replacement.

BAD NEWS!!!

So yesterday at work we all got an email stating we had a meeting with the boss at 4pm. We were all joking around that we were getting raises or we came up w/ theories that some of us were in trouble or getting lectures on being more discreet with our files. Then our boss told us that almost half of our staff was going to be laid off. It shocked me at first that I didn’t know what to think. Then minutes later I realized OMG I might be without a job soon. We’re not sure who’s getting laid off yet. We will find out in a week or so. I have been working at my job for four and half years. I been working for a non-profit since I was 17 and I have not really picture myself doing anything else. I’m heartbroken not only because I’m might be losing my job but my co-workers will too. It’s like my work family will be moving out. I love my job and I love my co-workers. So even if I was not losing my job it hurts to know that I might not be working with some of them.

Overworked

“Stress is when you wake up screaming and you realize you haven't fallen asleep yet”
-Unknown

Okay so I’m was going to take a vacation and relax at home but our yearly audit was scheduled at work. So I agreed to work one of my vacation days. But then…. The auditor stated that they would be here for 4 days working on their reviews. I was like WHHHAAT?!? There goes my vacation. The most suck-y part is that I didn’t do my homework. I was going to do it during my vacation while I was relaxing. All I had to do is read 2 chapters on my Political Science book and practice my sing language. Now I’m at work, and have to catch up on my reading and practice my sign language during lunch. It’s one of my bestie birthdays today and we were going to celebrate and needed some of Tuesday morning to recover. Now I’m going to have to limit my drinks =\

So hope everyone had a wonderful weekend! All I did on Saturday night was stayed home… read blogs and listen to music.

My mom gave me these adorable slippers. She said they match my room.

How I wish I was home in them…

I also got a new home for my brushes. They were originally all in the big clear vase with no rocks. They were all sad and slanted. But now they’re happy and standing straight and two vases… How cute. stand.

MMMMM!

You can even treat yourself to a whole apple and 2 teaspoon…lol
